In today’s world, the social need for a sporting environment that does not exclude, but rather embraces every member of society has never been more pressing. Sport serves as a powerful tool for fostering social cohesion, cultivating empathy, and promoting equality. However, for inclusion to be truly beneficial, it cannot remain merely a superficial declaration or an occasional, publicity-driven initiative.
Sports clubs bear the responsibility of creating substantive, sustainable and accessible structures. This requires systematic effort, investment in facilities, the training of coaches and long-term planning, ensuring that all athletes can train, develop and compete on equal terms.Establishing inclusive sports programs is not a luxury; it is a fundamental obligation that clubs owe to society as a whole.
In this spirit, the O29M basketball team of people with intellectual disabilities puts the values upheld by O29M club into practice, placing inclusion and equal participation at the very heart of its mission. The current season is drawing to a close and we are celebrating right where the heart of sports beats: at the stadium!
