About us

About

A meeting ground for researchers, artists and community actors, fostering critical thought, anti-racism, equality and environmental responsibility as integral components of both knowledge and practice.

The Research Department is a joint initiative of the Cultural Foundation 1948 (CF1948) and the People’s Athletic Club Omonia 29th of May (O29M), bridging theoretical research with social action. It functions as a space of interdisciplinary study and collective engagement, founded on the principles of equality, participation, solidarity and social justice.

Cultural Foundation 1948

CF1948

A non-profit NGO established in 2020, CF1948 aims to promote positive social change at local, national and regional levels through education, research and the preservation of cultural heritage. It emphasises inclusive cultural participation and democratic engagement, while addressing key societal challenges such as racism, gender inequality, environmental sustainability, public health and youth involvement, all contributing to broader social progress.

People’s Athletic Club

Omonia 29th of May

Founded in 2018 in response to the privatisation of Omonia Nicosia’s football department, O29M has emerged as a symbol of democratic governance and collective spirit. The club has achieved significant milestones, including its own training centre, a handball department, a runners’ team, a basketball team for people with intellectual disabilities, youth academies and a grassroots department, confirming the power of people’s sport as a pillar of community life.
