Accessibility statement

The Research Department of the People’s Athletic Club Omonia 29th of May (O29M) and the Cultural Foundation 1948 (CF1948) is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, technology or circumstance. Accessibility is not an add-on for us: equality, participation and inclusion are the subjects of our research, and they apply to our own work.

This statement applies to research.o29m.com.

Reading tools built into this site

Every page carries an accessibility button in the bottom-left corner. It opens a panel with the following options, and your choices are remembered on your next visit:

  • Text size: four steps up to 145%. Headings, body text and spacing all grow together, so the layout stays readable rather than overlapping.
  • Dyslexia-friendly font switches the whole site to Open Dyslexic, a typeface with weighted letter bottoms that reduces letter-swapping. It also turns off all capitalised text, because capitals remove the word shapes many dyslexic readers rely on.
  • Underline links: adds an underline to every link, so links are not identified by colour alone.
  • Dark mode: a lower-brightness colour scheme. If your device is already set to dark mode, this site follows it automatically.
  • Read aloud: reads the page text using your browser’s built-in speech, and highlights each paragraph as it is spoken. You can pause and stop at any point.

The reading tools work in both English and Greek.

Other accessibility features

  • The whole site can be operated by keyboard alone, and the element you are on always shows a visible focus outline.
  • A “Skip to content” link lets keyboard and screen-reader users jump past the navigation.
  • Headings follow a correct, nested order so screen-reader users can navigate by structure.
  • Menus, filters, form fields and the reading panel carry ARIA labels and states, so assistive technology announces what they are and whether they are open, selected or active.
  • Text colours meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast minimum of 4.5:1 in both light and dark mode.
  • Animation and the home page’s background video are switched off automatically if your system is set to reduce motion.
  • The site works at 200% browser zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
  • Text is real text, not images of text, so it can be resized, read aloud and translated.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for making web content more accessible. This website is PARTIALLY CONFORMANT with WCAG 2.1 level AA. “Partially conformant” means that most of the content meets the standard, but some parts do not yet.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following. We are working on them, and we would rather tell you than have you discover them:

  • Documents (PDFs). Reports and studies in our Publications section are often produced by project partners and may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need a publication in an accessible format (plain text, accessible PDF, large print or another format), contact us and we will provide it.
  • Third-party content. Embedded material such as maps, videos hosted elsewhere and social media feeds is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
  • Read aloud. This feature uses the speech voices installed on your own device. If your device has no Greek or English voice, the option will not appear. A dedicated screen reader will always give a better result.
  • Older material. Documents and pages published before 19/10/2026 may not meet all the standards described here.

Tell us if you have a problem

If you find something on this site you cannot use or read, please tell us. Say

what page you were on and what went wrong, and include the device, browser or

assistive technology you were using if you can. That helps us reproduce it.
