Media Masters (MEDMAS)

Increasing media literacy and civic participation in nine EU countries with a multilingual board game and a mobile app that simulate real news and disinformation scenarios.

About the project

The Media Masters (MEDMAS) project aims to increase media literacy and civic participation in nine EU countries, targeting diverse groups such as primary and secondary school students, university students, teachers and journalists. The project has a practical focus, with a multilingual board game and a mobile app that mimic real media and news scenarios, simulate fake and misleading news and social media content, and help users develop critical thinking skills and identify information or disinformation.

Expected results

The project introduces a multilingual board game and a mobile application, designed to simulate real-life media challenges and enhance citizens’ critical thinking skills. Through an interactive experience, players are confronted with examples of fake news, misleading content and common disinformation tactics, learning to identify and analyse them in a structured and engaging way. These tools are accessible, cost-effective and designed to remain active even after the project ends. Through their implementation, it is expected to increase media literacy among young people and educators, enhance active participation and engagement of citizens and combat fake news and disinformation in digital environments. At the same time, the project promotes cooperation between the public and private sectors and strengthens the dialogue around media literacy and fundamental democratic values.
